The solemn colours of the monsoon come alive in ‘Rainscape’

In the heart of the Bangladeshi monsoon, the image of the entire country transforms into a landscape marked by both hardship and romance. In this delta, the monsoon is a double-edged sword—a blessing or a curse, depending on the intensity of the rain. Yet people living in cities, where flooding is often less destructive than in rural areas, have learned to adapt to the season. Even so, a gentle monsoon turns nature into a work of art, inspiring countless artists. “Rainscape” is an exhibition dedicated to that artistic expression.

On July 4, 2026, Gallery Chitrak inaugurated the third solo exhibition by artist Shamsul Alam Azad, titled “Visible Structure”, showcasing his evocative abstract paintings. The opening ceremony was attended by eminent artist Professor Emeritus Rafiqun Nabi as the chief guest and freedom fighter and poet Shamsuddoha Milan, the artist’s brother, as the special guest. Veteran artist Mostafizul Haque presided over the event.

The inauguration of the exhibition took place at Gallery Shilpangan, Lalmatia on December 4. Artist and cartoonist Shishir Bhattacharjee, and Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art at University of Dhaka were present at the opening ceremony.
