In the heart of the Bangladeshi monsoon, the image of the entire country transforms into a landscape marked by both hardship and romance. In this delta, the monsoon is a double-edged sword—a blessing or a curse, depending on the intensity of the rain. Yet people living in cities, where flooding is often less destructive than in rural areas, have learned to adapt to the season. Even so, a gentle monsoon turns nature into a work of art, inspiring countless artists. “Rainscape” is an exhibition dedicated to that artistic expression.

After participating in several group exhibitions throughout his student life and career, he has decided to exhibit his life’s versatile artistic work in his first solo art show.

On July 4, 2026, Gallery Chitrak inaugurated the third solo exhibition by artist Shamsul Alam Azad, titled “Visible Structure”, showcasing his evocative abstract paintings. The opening ceremony was attended by eminent artist Professor Emeritus Rafiqun Nabi as the chief guest and freedom fighter and poet Shamsuddoha Milan, the artist’s brother, as the special guest. Veteran artist Mostafizul Haque presided over the event.

La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) inaugurated the third solo art exhibition of surrealist artist Zakia Khan Chandana, titled “Reality of the Subconscious Mind”, on July 3.

Kala Kendra is currently hosting a unique multimedia exhibition titled “Unfamiliar Affinity”. This is a solo exhibition by a Bangladeshi-German photographer and multimedia artist based in Germany.

Womanhood, memory, and the passage of time converge in “She in Stone”, the first solo exhibition by artist Anindita Oni, inaugurated at Studio Bhaskarmee in Hazaribagh on June 19, 2026. Showcasing a distinctive collection of artworks painted on stone, the exhibition explores themes of resilience, identity, and the enduring traces women leave behind.

Goethe-Institut Bangladesh hosted a cosy evening on June 20 commemorating the Bard of Bengal, polymath Rabindranath Tagore’s enduring connection with Germany. Titled “From the Memory Lane”, the programme navigates Tagore’s visits that have strengthened the bond between Germany and the undivided Bengal of British India.

The timeless poem “Kandari Hushiar” completed its centenary on May 22, just days after Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 127th birth anniversary. Marking both milestones, Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Songstha (BNSS) organised “Nazrul Jayanti 1433”, an immersive cultural programme at the auditorium of Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban.
