No bar to Ducsu election on Sept 9: SC chamber judge halts HC stay

The Supreme Court chamber judge today halted a High Court order that had stayed the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election until October 30.

Justice Farah Mahbub, chamber judge of the Appellate Division, issued the order less than an hour after the High Court stay, acting on a petition filed by Dhaka University authorities challenging the earlier ruling.

The chamber judge also directed the university to file a leave-to-appeal petition with the Appellate Division against the High Court order.

With this ruling, there is no legal barrier to holding the Ducsu election on September 9, said DU's lawyer Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir while speaking to The Daily Star
