Lower court judges can’t use degrees before names: HC
The High Court (HC) today ruled that degrees like barrister and doctor cannot be used before the name of lower court judges.
The lower court judges have no necessity to use any identity like barrister and doctor before their names as their only identities are that they are judges.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mustafizur Rahman passed the order on a suo moto (voluntary) move while hearing a petition seeking its directive upon Special Judge-5 of Dhaka Akhtaruzzaman to further record statement from five witnesses in a murder case.
The court came up with the order as Injamamul Islam alias Zishan submitted the petition mentioning the name of the judge as Dr Akhtaruzzaman.
Judge Akhtaruzzaman on June 13 rejected an application filed by Injamamul to further record statement from five witnesses of a case filed for killing one Hyaj Haque.
Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Md Yousuf Mahmud Morshed told The Daily Star that the HC bench today rejected the petition of Injamamul Islam which was earlier rejected by Judge Akhtaruzzaman.
