Investigate negligence in passenger screening in airport: Opposition MP Mujibul Haque

Opposition Jatiya Party MP Mujibul Haque today in Parliament demanded that the government investigates the allegations of negligence in screening inbound passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, amid the Coronavirus scare.

The opposition lawmaker also demanded that Health Minister Zahid Maleque make a statement in the House to assure people of the matter.

Mujibul came up with the demand during an unscheduled discussion.

Citing a news centring the live Facebook video of a China returnee air passenger, Mujibul said passengers had to wait five hours after arriving at the HSIA, but there was no doctor to do a health check-up on them.

"After five hours of waiting, they were given written documents that they had gone through screening at the airport. There were allegations of negligence regarding screening of incoming passengers at the airport. Some passengers went out of the airport without being screened," said Mujibul.

He also said this negligence was in no way acceptable.
