Gareth Bale has replaced Cristiano Ronaldo as Real Madrid's best paid player.

His stunning new six year deal, worth £600,000 a week, includes a billion euro buy-out clause.

For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel.

He will now stay at the club until 2022 and becomes the fourth player in the last month to sign a contract extension after Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez.

Bale will take home approximately £350,00-a-week after tax – more than Ronald's current wage of £290,000.

The Portuguese star, the favourite to win the Ballon D'Or, is also renegotiating his deal and is expected to take his place back at the top of the earning table.
