Two alleged outlaws were killed in a reported gunfight with their rivals in Sherpur upazila of Bogura early today.
The deceased were identified as Liton Sarkar, 40, and Afsar Ali, 45, said Humayan Kabir, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station.
The outlaws were member of Purbo Bangla Communist Party (PBCP Sarbohara faction), our Bogura correspondent reports quoting OC Humayan Kabir.
On information that two rival factions of the outlawed party were exchanging fire in Bhabanipur bazar area, a team of Sherpur Police Station rushed to the spot around 2:00am and rescued Liton and Afsar with bullet injuries, said the OC.
The injured were taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where duty doctors pronounced them dead, the police official said.
The bodies were kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy, said OC Humayan.
Police recovered one shutter gun, one pistol, eight bullets, three posters of PBCP and two sharp weapons from the spot, added the OC.
On April 8, an assistant sub-inspector of the police station was shot during a “gunfight” with the members of the alleged outlawed party in the Bhabanipur bazar area. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
