Khaleda now gets Fatema’s aid in jail

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now in jail in Dhaka in a graft case, is getting assistance from her house help Mosammat Fatema from today.
Fatema was taken to the prison cell, where Khaleda is staying for a week, this afternoon two days after a special court directed the jail authorities to allow Fatema to stay with her in jail.
Jahangir Kabir, senior jail super of Dhaka Central jail, told The Daily Star that Khaleda’s house help will stay with her from today.
Earlier, on February 11, the special court directed the jail authorities to provide Khaleda with first-class division in line with the jail code as well as allowing her house help to stay with her in jail.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia landed in jail after she was handed a five-year imprisonment for misappropriating a Tk 2.10 crore donation fund of Zia Orphanage Trust on February 8.
On the night of February 11, she was shifted to one of the four rooms on the first floor of the renovated day-care centre in the jail from the room of a nearby two-storey building once used as office of the jail superintendent.
