Bijoy first Bangladeshi to 50 tons

Gazi Group Cricketers batter Anamul Haque Bijoy achieved an unprecedented career milestone by scoring his 50th century in recognised cricket, becoming the first Bangladeshi to do so, as he played a match-winning knock during a Dhaka Premier League match against Legends of Rupganj at the BKSP-4 ground on Sunday.
Earlier this year, Bijoy had shared a Facebook post featuring a decade-old sticky note from his diary. Dated April 8, 2014, the note outlined his goal of scoring 50 centuries by 2025. The right-hander fulfilled that long-held ambition nearly a year ahead of schedule.
Bijoy's latest century, an unbeaten 105-ball 110, included 10 fours and a six. He brought up the milestone in style as he dispatched Shoriful Islam over deep backward square leg. His knock steered Gazi Group to a successful chase of a 224-run target, with seven wickets in hand.
The 32-year-old now has 23 List A centuries, 24 in first-class cricket, and three in T20s. He had previously surpassed Naeem Islam in January to become the Bangladeshi cricketer with the most centuries. That record-setting 47th ton came in the Bangladesh Premier League for Durbar Rajshahi against Khulna Tigers.
