Value of life only 50 Taka!
On November 9, 2021, Bikash Chandra, a resident of Putigram village of Gaibandha's Sagata upazila, was going back home after work like he did every other day. Bikash was severely injured after a motorbike ran him over from behind.
He was taken to the Upazila Health Complex first, then he was moved to Bogura's Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College where doctors put an oxygen mask on him and referred him to the surgical ward.
On the way to the surgical ward, a temporary cleaning staff of the hospital, Dhulu Mia asked for 200 Taka from Bikash's father. But the father could only give him 150 Taka. As a result, Dhulu Mia removed the oxygen mask and Bikash expired a few moments later.
Hospital authority has taken legal action against Dhulu Mia, he might even be convicted.
But will there be any permanent solution to these kinds of violence in hospitals in this country? How many Bikash Chanda will have to lose their lives before we can get any sort of guarantee.
