Juba Odhikar Parishad leader Tarek Rahman allegedly picked up by men in plainclothes
Men in plainclothes allegedly picked up a leader of Bangladesh Juba Odhikar Parishad from the capital's Roy Shaheb Bazar intersection area in a microbus this afternoon.
Tarek Rahman, joint convenor of Juba Odhikar Parishad, went to a lawyer's chamber in the afternoon. When he went downstairs to photocopy some documents, men in plainclothes took him away, said Muhammad Rashed Khan, convenor of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, the student wing of the organisation.
The vehicle which took him away is a silver-coloured microbus with the license plate number 'Dhaka-1121537', he added.
Other leaders of the platform wrote on Facebook that men in plainclothes introducing themselves as "DB men" picked up Tarek.
Mahbub Alam, joint commissioner of detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told The Daily Star that they have no knowledge of detaining someone named Tarek Rahman.
