Production resumes after five months
Rock production of Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited (MGMCL) in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur resumed on Saturday after a suspension of over five months due to technical glitches.
“The production resumed at 6:00am on Saturday. All the 600 miners belonging to three shifts have joined their work. However, it will take a couple of days more to start production in full swing,” said Fazlur Rahman, managing director of MGMCL.
The production was suspended on April 3 this year after the experts of GTC (Germania Trest Consortium), the contracted company of MGMCL, detected glitches in a clog wheel of the winding device used in underground rock production, officials said.
Later, the spare parts were imported, which took more than four months.
Currently MGMCL has a stock of around four lakh tonnes of rock at its yard.
