An O-level student died after rape in Dhaka's Kalabagan area on the afternoon of January 7, 2021. The victim was a student of an English medium school in Dhanmondi.
3. Coca-Cola's losses in brand value after Ronaldo gesture
Cristiano Ronaldo at the press conference prior to Portugal's game against Hungary, removed two bottles of Coca-Cola from his vicinity. The Portuguese star sat down, saw the two bottles of carbonated drinks and moved them away before taking a water bottle. His gesture was accompanied by a suggestion to 'drink water'.
4. Vaccine Registration: NID requirement troubling many
Saleha Khatun is 55 and suffers from some health issues. She could not register on surokkha.gov.bd to get Covid-19 vaccine as she had lost her National Identity card a long time ago. Her journalist son Shamiul Hossain Shimul is worried since an infection of coronavirus could be fatal for his mother.

For the first time, a total of nine Bangladeshis made the 'Forbes 30 under 30' Asia list. From 2016 till 2020, a total of nine Bangladeshis got themselves listed for their outstanding work. This year alone nine Bangladeshis under the age of thirty got listed for their work in three sectors: enterprise technology, social impact & retail & e-commerce.
7. Scars of torture all over him

This was the first statement by Ahmed Kabir Kishore to this correspondent. He was released from Kashimpur Central Jail-2, on bail, around 12:20pm -- mere hours back. The cartoonist had spent 10 months in prison for the crime of drawing cartoons, prosecuted under the Digital Security Act.

9. Bangladesh slips to 106th position in global passport index
Bangladesh was ranked joint 106th -- along with Lebanon and Sudan -- in the 2021 Henley Passport Index. In 2020, Bangladesh was ranked in joint 98th position with Iran.
10. Our take on the Al Jazeera Report
We think it was a mature decision by the government not to disrupt or block in any way, the broadcasting of the Al Jazeera story or its spread on social media. Such actions are usually counterproductive and triggers more audience reactions.
