Don’t know why I’ve been sent into retirement: SP Baqui
Mirza Abdullahel Baqui, one of the three superintendents of police sent into retirement today, said he had no idea about his early retirement.
"I unofficially came to know about the order…I have not been informed about any reason," he said after a correspondent of The Daily Star contacted him following the news of the retirement.
Asked about his alleged connection with a specific political party, Baqui said there is no scope of doing politics while discharging government duty.
Baqui, who is a police officer of the 15th BCS batch, was supposed to go on retirement starting February 28 next year. At least two of his batchmates are now serving as additional inspector general of police, the second highest rank in the force.
Three superintendents of police were sent into retirement this evening citing public interest, just two days after the information secretary was also sent on retirement.
