Aedes Larvae: DNCC fines own building Tk 4 lakh
Dhaka North City Corporation yesterday fined one of its own under-construction buildings Tk 4 lakh for finding Aedes larvae on the premises.
DNCC fined two contractors Tk 2 lakh each during a drive at its housing project site in Gabtoli. The contractors are Mark Builders and Maisha Construction.
Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan led the drive.
Besides, Banga Builders, a contractor responsible for the construction of a building for government employees on Darus Salam Road, was also fined Tk 2 lakh over similar reasons.
On the seventh day of the DNCC's month-long special mosquito eradication drive, a total of Tk 9.85 lakh was collected in 14 cases after finding Aedes larvae.
The city corporation conducted mobile court drives in 10 different areas.
DNCC spokesperson Mokbul Hossain said the campaign will continue throughout July.
DSCC, on the other hand, carried out drives in two areas and fined two building owners Tk 15,000 each, said DSCC spokesperson Abu Naser.
Meanwhile, the country reported 1,623 new dengue cases in the 24 hours till yesterday morning, the highest number of hospitalisation in a day from the mosquito-borne disease this year.
During the period, seven more deaths were reported from dengue, raising the fatalities from the infection to 100, according to DGHS.
