SI stabbed during drive in Dhaka's Turag
A sub-inspector of Turag Police Station was stabbed allegedly by a suspected drug dealer during a drive this evening.
SI Shahinur Rahman, 45, was receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital with stab wounds in the chest, police said.
The incident took place around 7:00pm when a police team led by Shahinur carried out a drive in a building in Fulbaria area.
Moudut Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Turag Police Station, said the team raided the house on information of drugs being traded on the rooftop.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, four to five suspected drug traders fled the scene but one Abdur Rouf reportedly attacked the SI with a sharp weapon and stabbed him, he said.
Shahinur was first rushed to a local hospital from where he was referred to DMCH.
Police are conducting drives to arrest the drug dealers including Rouf, the OC said.
