Man arrested with 58 gold bars worth over Tk 6cr in Chuadanga
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man with 58 gold bars worth Tk 6.6 crore from Chuadanga border today (September 15, 2022).
Chuadanga-6 BGB seized the bars, weighing around 9.86 kilogrammes, from the border area in Nastipur village around 11am.
The estimated price of the seized bars is around Tk 6,60,35,740, Chuadanga-6 BGB Director Shah Md Ishtiaq told our Kushtia correspondent.
Acting on a tip-off, the BGB members took position near the graveyard at Nastipur village in Damurhuda upazila around 11am, he said. They had information that a man riding a motorcycle would smuggle gold bars to India.
Around 11:25am, the BGB members saw a motorcycle rider and chased him. The man was arrested when he tried to flee the scene after abandoning the motorcycle.
The arrestee has been identified as Rakibul Islam, 35, of Nastipur village.
