At least seven people were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident involving a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a bus in Lalmai upazila of Cumilla today.

The incident took place around 12noon when the auto-rickshaw collided with the bus coming from the opposite direction at Jamtol area on Cumilla-Laksham road in the upazila, leaving five people including the driver and passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and four others critically injured, Bodiul Alam Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Lalmai Police Station, told our Cumilla correspondent.

The injured were rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries at around 1:30pm while undergoing treatment, Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent of police in Cumilla, confirmed to The Daily Star.

The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
