JU student drowns in pond

A second year student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) drowned in a university pond this evening.

Jamilur Rahman Zishan, a student of 43rd batch of Archaeology Department, was swimming in a pond at the varsity campus and suddenly sank there, reports our JU correspondent quoting victim’s friends.

Hearing the screaming of his friends, some university teachers and staffs started searching for Zishan and at one stage found him in the water, witnesses said.

Zishan was rushed to Enam Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead at 6:00pm.

Zishan hailed from Anwara of Chittagong district and was a resident student of Shaheed Salam Barkat Hall, said Assistant Proctor Mehedi Iqbal.

He was also an executive member of Bangladesh Chhatra Union, JU unit.
