The High Court today directed its registrar to file a criminal case against five persons including three accused of a drug case for securing bail through submitting forged documents to this court.
The court also cancelled the bail of the three accused–Rana Bepari, Mosammat Tanni Begum and Ranu Begum -- and ordered the police to arrest and produce them before a concerned lower court in Khulna in connection with the case.
Two other persons against whom the HC registrar will file the case are Asad Moral, representative of the three accused and their lawyer’s clerk Aiyub Ali.
The HC bench of M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after detecting the forgery during hearing a petition filed by Md Suman, another accused of the same drug case, seeking bail.
Advocate Tashdid Anwar, the lawyer for Rana, Tanni and Ranu, told The Daily Star that the police arrested Rana, Tanni, Ranu and Suman after recovering 3,000 pieces of Yaba from their possessions and filed a case with Dumuria Police Station in Khulna on March 6 this year.
On June 17, the HC bench granted six months’ bail to Rana, Tanni, Ranu following a bail petition filed by them.
The accused submitted a forged certified copy of the first information report (FIR) of the case along with the bail petition to the HC saying that the police did not recover any Yaba from their possessions, he said, adding that after securing bail, they got released from jail.
Advocate Tashdid said lawyer’s clerk Ayiub Ali has collected the forged documents for securing bail for Rana, Tanni and Ranu.
Later on, Suman, a co-accused of the case, who is now in jail, filed a petition with the HC seeking bail in the case.
He submitted some documents including a certified copy of the FIR to the HC saying that the police have recovered 3,000 pieces of Yaba from the accused.
After examining the documents, the HC recently fixed today for passing orders on the bail petitions of all the four accused.
The HC bench also canceled its June 17 order that granted bail to Rana, Tanni and Ranu and rejected the bail petition of Suman, Advocate Tashdid added.
