Oman returnee dies 2 days after home quarantine ends
A 49-year-old Oman returnee, who was under home quarantine till March 31, died at home in Dowarabazar upazila under Sunamganj this morning.
A village doctor, during a home visit, gave him medicine for stomach ache at around 7am, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Sunamganj Civil Surgeon Dr Shamsuddin Ahmed.
The patient died at home around 10:00am, the civil surgeon said.
The man returned from Oman on March 17 and completed his home quarantine on March 31, he added.
"His sample is being collected for sending to IEDCR for coronavirus test. He will be buried following WHO protocol," the civil surgeon said.
As he returned from abroad, we are sending the sample for testing, the doctor said.
The man's house and nine other nearby houses have been put under lockdown and each member of these families were ordered not to go out, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sonia Sultana confirmed.
