Road crash kills 8-yr-old boy in city

An eight-year-old boy was killed as he was hit allegedly by a police vehicle in the capital's Sayedabad yesterday.

The accident happened around 3:00pm when the boy was playing along with other children by the roadside.

The victim, Mohammad Raj, a class three student at Karatitola Government Primary School, was a son of Hanif Mia, said Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station.

Raj was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Abdus Salam, an uncle of Raj, and other witnesses claimed that the vehicle carrying policemen knocked the boy down.

However, OC Anisur said they could not be sure immediately whether the vehicle was carrying policemen.
