With his melodic voice, Kumar Bishwajit has what it takes to win over millions of music fans. And his passion for music seems to grow though he has been in the industry for decades. The National Film Award winning singer will celebrate his 53rd birthday today. Some reflections:
How do you look back on your life on your birthday?
Kumar Bishwajit: Every birthday means a year spent from your life. When a man comes to the planet, he comes with some responsibilities. Life is like a competition – where one has to survive. This world is a place where one comes for a special visit. Such thoughts come to me on my birthday.
What were your birthdays like during your childhood?
Kumar Bishwajit: Back in those days, there was not much of a culture of cutting cakes on birthdays. Where I grew up, no grand celebrations took place on the day but special dishes such as Payesh were cooked up at home and everyone extended their blessings.
Who is usually the first to wish you on your birthday?
Kumar Bishwajit: My wife and child are the first to wish me. Later, my close ones and many others at home and abroad wish me.
What are your birthday plans this year?
Kumar Bishwajit: My family has been busy making plans to celebrate for the past two weeks ( laughs). My mother will cut the cake with everyone which is always a great pleasure.
What can someone do on your birthday to make you feel special?
Kumar Bishwajit: Tough question. There aren't any gifts that really overwhelm me at this point. If someone writes or composes a song for me, that is much more special to me.
