17 more infected with coronavirus in Lakshmipur
A total of 17 more people -- including a doctor -- have been identified as coronavirus positive in Lakshmipur yesterday.
With this, the total number of Covid-19 patients in the district stands at 19, reports our Noakhali correspondent.
The newly infected 17 include two children aged three and 11 months old. Four of them are staff of a government hospital including a doctor, our correspondent reports quoting the district's Civil Surgeon Dr Abdul Gaffar.
These new 17 cases were among the 266 people diagnosed with Covid-19 across the country in the last 24 hours.
Samples collected from 111 persons in Lakshmipur district three days before were tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Chattogram and among those 17 came positive, the civil surgeon said.
Among the 17, 13 are from Ramganj upazila, three from Kamalnagar upazila, and one is from sadar upazila, the civil surgeon added.
Last week one Covid-19 patient was identified in Ramganj and one in Kamalnagar. Following the arrival of their reports, the district was put under lockdown on Monday.
