Hundreds of thousands call Bouteflika to quit
Hundreds of thousands of protesters gathered in Algiers yesterday to demand the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, days after the army chief called for his removal. Dancing, blowing horns and shouting freedom slogans, some demonstrators also called for the entire political elite to go, saying that while they were against Bouteflika, who is in power for the last 20 years, they also rejected the army's intervention in civilian political life.
