Former Ghoraghat UNO Wahida released from hospital
Former Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wahida Khanam, who was undergoing treatment at National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital after a brutal attack at her official residence in Dinajpur, has been released from the hospital this noon.
She was discharged from the hospital after 12:00pm today, UNB reported.
"The brain surgery conducted on her was hundred percent successful. Now she can walk but it will take one or two more weeks for her full recovery. She has no disability now," said Dr Mohammad Zahed Hossain, chief of the Neurotrauma Department of the hospital while briefing reporters on the hospital premises after her release.
Now, Wahida will be taken to Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) for further treatment.
It will take around one month for her to get back to normal life, he said.
Earlier in the morning, Dr Badrul Haque, joint director of the NINH, told The Daily Star, "She (Wahida) has recovered from the injury sustained on her head. Her right side was paralysed, which has become functional now. She can now eat with her own hand. Also, she can move her right leg. But the paralysed part of her leg is not fully recovered."
Wahida and her father Omar Ali were seriously injured in an attack by miscreants at her home on the Upazila Parishad premises early on September 2.
Later, she was airlifted to Dhaka.
Police arrested 10 suspects including the prime accused in a case filed over the attack.
