Winter is known to be the most favourite season for many of us. However, for some of us, this year's bitter-cold winter experience may not have been delightful, since 2018 marks the lowest temperature of Bangladesh.
But, Project Be, Give, and FEM, three development based organsations said goodbye to this year's winter in a delightful way, with a winter carnival called Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland took place on February 9, 2018, at the Banani SWAT Field.
FEM- Female Empowerment Movement, in collaboration with Project Be Team, has trained women in urban slum areas on circuits and carpentry. These are the same girls who are taught Karate by Project Attorokkha. Based on their knowledge from the training, these girls made games for Winter Wonderland.
Different fun and exciting games, for example High Striker, Sling Shot, Hoop, Shocky and Splash were made by the girls themselves. The detailed structures of these games showed the potential and expertise of these girls. The girls, too, joined the event and participated in various challenges.
It was a daylong event and the profit that was made will fully be utilised for the healthcare, education and training of these women. There have been desserts and goodies' stalls too. Winter Wonderland was sponsored by Omera LPG and Khulna Titans.
Through this initiative, the girls practically implement what they have learned so far. With talents like these, a promising future is definitely on the way for these girls.
