Only laws cannot protect rivers
Bangladesh is a country of a hundred rivers. But these rivers, the lifeline of the nation, are under huge threat. A lack of awareness amongst the general populace who willfully and callously dump waste in the rivers end up choking the rivers. The High Court has imposed some laws to prevent this which haven't been fruitful yet. However, laws alone cannot protect the rivers. People have to take responsibility for their actions too. Laws should also be strictly imposed on unscrupulous people and business polluting the rivers. If dumping waste in the rivers is not stopped immediately, our deliberate and destructive actions will put the lives of future generations at great risk.
