Dhaka Club is all set to host the President Cup Bride Tournament on Friday at the club premises after a one-year gap.

Around 100 players are expected to take part in the day-long tournament, which is open for all. Some Tk 2.5 lakh will be distributed among the winners.

"To decide the champions of the tournament, we need to play at least 60 boards. We hope the tournament will be held in a festive mood," said tournament committee convener ATM Moazzem Hossain.

Pochettino gets two-match ban

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was Wednesday handed a two-match touchline ban and fined £10,000 ($13,000) by the Football Association following an angry clash with a referee.

The Argentine, whose side reached the Champions League quarterfinals with a 1-0 win at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, was sanctioned over the incident involving referee Mike Dean after last month's 2-1 Premier League loss at Burnley.

It means he will have to sit in the stands when Spurs visit his former club Southampton on Saturday and also for the league game against Liverpool on March 31.

New European T20 league in the offing

The cricket boards of Scotland, Netherlands and Ireland have reached an agreement to form a new European Twenty20 league that will be held from Aug. 30 to Sept. 22 this year, the three boards said in a joint statement.

The tournament has been developed in consultation with the International Cricket Council (ICC), with the name of the tournament and the venues to be announced in April.

Six city-based franchise teams, two from each country, will play 30 group stage matches followed by the semi-finals and a final.
