U-18 Football: NoFeL SC knock out Arambagh on penalties

NoFeL Sporting Club stunned Arambagh KS on penalties to seal a berth in the semifinals of the Walton U-18 Football Tournament after regulation time of the second quarterfinal ended in a goalless draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

The youth team of the recently-relegated Bangladesh Premier League outfit had barely had two weeks’ training ahead of the tournament, but kept at bay the young charges from Arambagh, who have had much better training for this tournament.

And when the game rolled into tiebreak, it was the side from the Southeast part of the country who prevailed by 5-3 goals, knocking out the Dhaka-based outfit.

Bashundhara Kings became the first team to move into the last four following their win over Brothers Union on Friday.

The third quarterfinal of the tournament between Dhaka Abahani and Chittagong Abahani will be held at 5:00pm at the same venue today.
