Anamul’s seat booked for Windies tour?
Opening batsman Anamul Haque Bijoy is likely to get reward for his outstanding performance in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League as the right-hander is being considered for next month's West Indies tour.
"Anamul is being considered for the West Indies tour. He will be considered for the ODIs and the T20Is. Though the selectors will ultimately take the decision, I think they are considering him. Surely, he will be included in the squad for the ODI and T20I series," Jalal Yunus, cricket operations committee chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), told reporters at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.
Bangladesh will play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is during their tour of West Indies, starting next month.
Anamul's dreamlike season saw him turn score 1138 runs, a world-record, beating Tom Moody's record of 917 runs set in 1991 for Worcestershire.
The 29-year-old had appeared in 38 ODIs following his debut in 2012. He last appeared in the national team colours during Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka in 2019, playing in the last match of a three-match ODI series.
