Road crashes kill 7 in two dists
Seven people were killed and six injured in separate road accidents in Natore and Panchagarh today.
Of the deceased, three were killed in Natore while the rest in Panchagarh.
Our Natore correspondent reports, a Dhaka-bound bus from Rajshahi hit an oncoming human hauler, locally known as Leguna, on Dhaka-Natore highway at Syedermore in Sadar upazila around 7:00am.
The driver of Leguna died on the spot while nine of its passengers sustained injuries during the accident, police said.
Six of the injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital in critical condition where three succumbed later.
Among the three other injured, one was whisked off to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital while the rest at a private clinic in Natore.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
In Panchagarh, three motorcycle riders were killed when a Tentulia-bound speedy truck hit their vehicle on Panchagarh-Tentulia highway at Jagdal village in Sadar upazila around 12:30am.
The victims are: Moslem alias Sanaul, 45, son of late Roisuddin; and Salimul, 50, son of Mofizuddin; of Thutapakuri village and Khorshed Alam, 50, son of late Abdul Latif of Bosuniapara village in Sadar upazila.
Sanaul and Solimul died on the spot while Khorshed Alam at Panchagarh Sadar Hospital, said Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Panchagarh Police Station.
The victims were returning home after placing wreaths at the district shaheed minar with local lawmaker Nazmul Haque Prodhan, locals said.
