Rise in rape cases: ASK demands exemplary punishment for perpetrators

Protesting the rise in incidents of rape, killing and sexual abuse, rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) today took to the street demanding exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.

At least 50 staff members of the rights organisation formed a human chain at Manik Mia Avenue area on Mirpur Road for half an hour from 11:00am.

Holding banners and placards, they also demanded that the government ensure justice for the victims and establish a women-friendly state.

Recently, a Chakma woman was gang-raped in Khagrachhari, a housewife was gang-raped by Chhatra League men in Sylhet, a teenage girl was stabbed to death in Savar while two teenage girls were gang-raped in Benapole.

While staging the protest, ASK demanded immediate investigation into the incidents and called for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
