Additional police personnel were deployed in Radhanagar Moktobpara of Pabna municipality's ward 11 after a clash between supporters of two rival councillor candidates this afternoon.

Police brought the situation under control but the mood in the area is tense, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting police and locals.

The clash erupted in the afternoon when a campaign procession of incumbent councillor Faridul Islam Dalu reached the Radhanagar area and the men of his rival candidate Sanaul Haque Sanu attacked them.

Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.

Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area, the OC added.

Talking to journalists, both councillor candidates Dalu and Sanu blamed each other.

Pabna municipality elections will be held on January 30.
