Medical board checks up on Khaleda

A medical board of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has checked up on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to ascertain her condition.
The four-member board led by Prof Shamsuzzaman, head of orthopedics at DMCH, visited Khaleda Zia in jail this evening, AKM Nasiruddin, director of the DMCH, told The Daily Star.
Prof Shamsuzzaman told The Daily Star that they along with Dhaka district Civil Surgeon Dr Ehsanul Karim met Khaleda Zia and observed her health condition.
“She has been suffering from some complications and some new conditions have arisen; but her overall condition is not critical,” Nasiruddin said after meeting Khaleda.
The board is expected to brief reporters about Khaleda's condition tomorrow.
Khaleda Zia has been given some advice and instruction to follow. Necessary treatment would be given to her later, Shamsuzzaman said.
BNP has been very vocal about Khaleda Zia’s illness and has demanded that she be attended with immediate healthcare, if possible be taken abroad.
