‘The Kerala Story’ screening gets cancelled in UK

Cinema halls in the UK had to abruptly cancel shows of "The Kerala Story", and also had to refund the audiences. The screening of the movie was halted, as the authorities failed to give it an age certificate. 

Most of the audience was furious with the sudden decision to stop the screening of the film. 

The organisation sent an email giving justification to the viewers, "The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) didn't issue the age certificate for 'The Kerala Story' and thus they had to cancel the bookings. The authorities sincerely apologised for the inconvenience."

According to a TOI report, the movie was 95% booked. Suresh Varsani, director of the movie's UK distributor 24 SEVEN FLIX4U contacted BBFC to get proper justification but wasn't properly satisfied with their answer. 

"I am very suspicious that they have not provided a legitimate reason. Why do they require additional time when they have already had three days? I've never seen a situation like this before, where a film is not classified when it's supposed to be released. It has been approved in the United States, India, Australia, Canada, and Ireland. I am not sure what the problem is," stated Suresh.

‘The Kerala Story’ earns big despite controversies 

 According to Suresh, a total loss of £40,000 to £50,000 (Rs 40 to 50 lakh) has been incurred between him and the theaters up to this point.
