Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) today claimed to have busted a firearms making factory at a remote hilly area between Rangunia and Paitya upazilas of Chattogram, and arrested two persons including a firearms maker in this connection.

The arrestees are: Md Rokun, 38, and Md Abdul, 32, of Rangunia upazila, Rab sources said.

"Acting on a tip off, a team of Rab conducted a drive in the remote hilly area under Rangunia upazila this morning," said Md Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, assistant director (AD) of Rab-7 Media Wing.

Later, while searching a thatched house in the area, Rab seized a huge stash of firearms making materials, four one-shooter guns, three rounds of bullets and arrested the duo in this connection, the AD said.

The Rab official also said Rokun is the key maker of hand-made firearms at the factory while Abdul is his assistant.

They used to sell firearms to local robbers and criminals in Fatickchhari, Rangunia, Raozan and Patiya upazilas for a long time, the official added.

They arrestees were handed over to the police, while filing of a case in this connection was underway.
