Train services between Dhaka, northern region resume after 10hrs
Rail communications between Dhaka and northern districts were restored this morning, around 10 hours after a freight train derailed in Tangail's Kalihati upazila last night.
The derailed compartment of the train was removed from the track around 9:00am today, reports our Tangail correspondent, quoting railway officials.
Liaquat Sharif, additional chief engineer of Western Railways, said a compartment of the Dhaka-bound freight train from north Bengal derailed at the Rajbari crossing in Kalihati around 11:00pm, suspending rail communication between Dhaka and the north.
A salvage train later arrived there around 3:00am today and removed the derailed compartment from the track around 9:00am, he added.
