Govt being run by corrupts: Khosru
BNP standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury today said there is "no political government" in the country.
"The country is being run by a group of corrupt businesspeople, bureaucrats and members of the law enforcement agencies. Awami League politicians have no role in governing the country," he said.
Khosru was addressing a discussion titled, "Serajul Alam Khan and the Future of Bangladesh", organised by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), at the Jatiya Press Club in the evening.
The BNP leader said, "Awami League has lost its political character. Politicians of the ruling party cannot play any role in running the party or the country."
Speakers at the programme discussed the life and works of Serajul Alam, one of the key organisers of the Liberation War. He passed away on June 9.
Khosru expressed doubts whether Serajul Alam would have his rightful place in the country's political history.
"When politicians try to rewrite history, it ceases to be history," he added.
Speaking at the event, JSD President ASM Abdur Rab accused AL of destroying the spirit of Liberation War.
Bangladesher Biplobi Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Ganosamhati Andolon Chief Coordinator Junaid Saki, and JSD General Secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud also spoke at the programme, among others.
