BNP won't sit with EC
The BNP will not sit with the Election Commission for any formal or informal talks, said the party leaders.
The party has also decided not to respond to the EC and that it would make its position clear at a press conference, they added.
The EC had sent a letter to the BNP requesting talks.
According to the party sources, the BNP took the decision today at the meeting of its standing committee, the highest policy making body of the party.
They believe the letter was sent following the advice of the government and it is a staged drama. The BNP does not want to take part in any such drama, they said.
A standing committee member told The Daily Star that the party will go for talks only if it is about the caretaker government.
There is no reason to hold talks with the EC as the BNP is in a movement for the election under a caretaker government but the EC has nothing to say regarding this, he added.
