BNP men reach Barishal by 41 trawlers
Several thousands of BNP leaders and activists boarded 41 trawlers and reached Barishal amid transport strike around the division to join the party rally scheduled for tomorrow (November 5, 2022).
Barguna district BNP leaders said that the party acticists and supporters from Barguna Sadar, Amtali, Taltoli, Patharghata, Bamna and Betagi upazilas, met in the Payra River with trawlers. From there, they started for Barishal around 10 last night. There was cooking arrangement for dinner on each trawler.
Barguna District Jubo Dal President Zahid Mollah said, "We reached Barishal around 10:00am today, 12 hours after the journey started from Payra River in Barguna via Sugandha River in Jhalokathi."
Movement of launches and speedboats were suspended on the Barishal-Bhola route yesterday (November 3, 2022) ahead of BNP's rally in Barishal.
Zahid Mollah added, "We were able to anticipate the planning of the government and the ruling party. That's why, Jubo dal leaders and activists were asked to prepare to travel to Barishal on water route."
Barguna district BNP joint convener Tariquzzaman Titu said, "Many leaders and activists of the district BNP have already reached Barishal with motorcycles and easy-bikes before the strike began. Those who were left reached Barishal by trawler."
According to the BNP leader, there were more than 8,000 leaders and activists on the 41 trawlers.
