AL has no right to stay in power: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that Awami League has no right to stay in power, claiming that people demand a change of government in the country.
He made the remarks while speaking at a BNP protest rally in capital's Nayapaltan this morning.
Tarique Rahman, according to Fakhrul, was deported based on a false case.
Even today, fifty leaders and activists have been detained, he said. "We strongly condemn it and demand their immediate release… and all charges against them must be dropped," he said.
"We want compensation for the damages … We want families of the victims compensated. We seek justice and fairness … They (AL) create communal riots and make people's lives difficult in numerous ways," he added.
The BNP leader said that the AL govt should step down and hand over power to a non-partisan, neutral government so that an acceptable election can be held.
