Provat Kumar passes away
Provat Kumar Das, an editor, researcher and essayist in Paschim-banga, died from a cardiac arrest in Kolkata yesterday. He was 77, said a press release.
He had been the head of the publication department at Rabindra Bharati University for a long time. Besides, he served as first publishing editor of Paschimbanga Bangla Academy and publishing professor of Bangiya Sahitya Parishad.
He worked as an editor of Natya Akademi Patrika, Jatra Akademi Patrika and Bahurupi Natyapatra.
He authored a book "Theatre Patrikar Chollish Bachhor", which featured the theatre newspaper of Bangladesh. Theatre editor Ramendu Majumdar expressed deep shock at his death. Liberation War Museum Trustee writer-publisher Mofidul Haque and Bangladesh Theatre Archive director Babul Biswas also expressed condolences.
