Milad mahfil for Prof Rahmatullah tomorrow

A milad mahfil will be held in the loving memory of Professor Dr Mohammed Rahmatullah, vice chancellor of the University of Development Alternative (UODA), at 4:00pm tomorrow.

The university has requested friends and family to attend the event at UODA auditorium on 2nd Floor, Rangs Building, 80, Satmasjid Road (near Bangladesh Eye Hospital, Dhanmondi).

Prof Rahmatullah passed away on October 11, 2023.

A former lecturer of Bio-Chemistry at Dhaka University, he taught and researched at the University of Hong Kong, Kansas State University, Auburn University, Weiss Center for Research, Pennsylvania.

After spending 18 long years in the US, he returned home and served at Khulna University and then at UODA.

Dr Rahmatullah, who conducted numerous research in national and international journals, has been selected among the top two percent of the most cited scientists in the world in a prestigious journal article published by Stanford University-based researchers in the USA.

His work during the period of 2009-2019 was in the field of "Natural Products and Drug Discovery" and consisted of pharmacological studies on medicinal plants obtained in ethnomedicinal surveys from folk and tribal medicinal practitioners.
