Liberation War exhibition held in Barishal city

A day-long exhibition on the Liberation War was inaugurated at Barishal Reporters' Unity premises yesterday morning.

The exhibition featuring various documentations and artefacts of the war was inaugurated by Barishal University Vice-Chancellor Prof Sadequl Arefin at the reporters' unity's Shaheed Janani Sahan Ara Begum Auditorium. It marks the golden jubilee of the country's independence.

Speaking at the programme, Prof Sadequl said, "Exhibitions like these are way more purposeful than our speeches. I think it will play a significant role in spreading the spirit of the Liberation War among the new generation."

Nazrul Biswas, President of Barishal Reporters Unity, said that their organisation has been carrying out this programme for more than a decade.

Apart from various books on the Liberation War and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, copies of the first constitution, dummy rifles, cyclostyle machines, ammunition and photographs used in the Liberation War were displayed in the exhibition. Among others, eminent writer and journalist Anisur Rahman Swapan also spoke at the programme.
