Admin sees 3rd reshuffle within a week
The government has appointed new deputy commissioners in eight districts.
In the last one week, new DCs were appointed in 28 districts.
The public administration ministry yesterday issued a notification, saying that this order would take immediate effect.
Rehena Akter, deputy secretary of the public administration ministry, has been made Manikganj DC, replacing Mohammad Abdul Latif.
Latif has been transferred to the Economic Relations Division.
He was transferred at a time when media reported Health Minister Zahid Maleque and his family's land purchase issue in Manikganj.
The minister and his family members bought 20.65 acres in an area proposed for establishing a government drug factory in Manikganj. The project was yet to be approved by the government.
They also changed the category of the land and hiked the price by fivefold, reported media.
Of the other new DCs, Md Shamim Hasan, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division, has been appointed as Meherpur DC; Abdullah Al Khairum, director at the Prime Minister's Office, as Sherpur DC; Imran Ahmed, deputy secretary at the Statistics and Information Management Division, as Jamalpur DC; Md Abu Zafor Ripon, deputy secretary at the Cabinet Division, as Munshiganj DC; Mohammad Mobasser Hasan, deputy secretary at the public administration ministry, as Rangpur DC; Md Mahmudul Haque, deputy project director (deputy secretary) at the Prime Minister's Office, as Narayanganj DC; and Kisinger Chakma, deputy secretary at the disaster management and relief ministry, as Chuadanga DC.
Earlier on Thursday and Sunday, the government issued two circulars, appointing DCs in 20 districts.
