10 SC lawyers urge HC to examine termination of ACC official Sharif
Ten Supreme Court lawyers, led by Mohammad Shishir Manir, today sent a letter to the High Court and Supreme Court registrar general, requesting them to examine the termination of Anti-Corruption Commission's official Sharif Uddin from service.
In the letter, they prayed to HC to issue a show cause notice asking the ACC to explain why it has sacked Sharif.
The lawyers also urged HC to direct the government to provide security to Sharif.
Lawyer Shishir Manir told The Daily Star that they submitted the letter to the HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman and the SC registrar general under the Bangladesh Supreme Court (High Court Division) Rules, 1972.
The court may hold hearing on the letter considering it as a petition on Tuesday, he added.
On February 16, ACC gave Sharif Uddin stand release as per 54 (2) of ACC (staff) rules, 2008.
Sharif Uddin had reportedly been conducting investigations into corruption allegations against different offices and hospitals.
