Prof Kamrul Hasan Khan re-elected as deputy speaker of IPPNW
Prof Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), has been re-elected as the deputy speaker of International Physician of Nuclear War (IPPNW), said a press release.
Dr Kamrul is also the founder president of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), a IPPNW and ICAN affiliated organisation.
PSR has congratulated Dr Kamrul on his re-election, said a press release signed by PSR General Secretary Prof Dr AKM Salek.
IPPNW is a non-partisan federation of national medical groups in over 63 countries, representing tens of thousands of doctors, medical students, other health workers, and concerned citizens.
They share the common goal of creating a more peaceful and secure world freed from the threat of nuclear annihilation and armed violence.
IPPNW was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. It was also awarded the Unesco Prize for Peace Education the previous year. It also shared the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize 2017 for its participation in the "International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN)".
