Zila Parishad chairmen, members can’t hold posts after tenure: Bill placed in Parliament
Zila Parishad chairmen and members cannot hold posts after the five-year tenure on any excuse.
A bill in this connection -- titled "Zila Parishad (Amendment) Act 2022" -- was placed in Parliament today to make the new system in to effect.
Local Government Minister Tajul Islam placed the bill which was sent to parliamentary standing committee on the respective ministry for scrutiny.
The parliamentary watchdog was asked to submit its report within 7 days.
The proposed law said the Zila Parishad representatives must leave their posts on the expiry of their tenure.
The government would appoint administrator/s to run the local body until the formation of the next council (parishad).
