CU asks expelled, non-students to leave halls
Chittagong University (CU) authorities today asked all the expelled students and those whose studentship has already expired to leave the halls by 6:00pm tomorrow.
A circular signed by acting registrar KM Nur Ahmad was issued today following repeated clashes among factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for the last few days, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.
The Daily Star managed to get hold of a copy of the circular.
A group of BCL men this afternoon beat up and injured Prothom Alo correspondent Mosharraf Shah over a report on extortion and armed clashes by BCL men on the campus.
In the circular, the CU authority asked the students, who got admissions in the 2014-15 session and were still living in different halls, to leave the halls by 6:00pm tomorrow.
The authority also ordered the same to those students who have been expelled, the circular said adding that it would take punitive action against those who do not abide by the directive.
This correspondent tried repeatedly to contact CU Proctor Nurul Amin Sikder on his cellphone for comments but he did not receive the call.
